30 day poetry challenge, day 10

--

Little pink tassels

They dance in the wind

Like a dozen flickering flames

On a cool Sunday night,

Fighting for freedom from the handlebars.

The child rides, mouth slightly open,

Widening, blooming like a flower

After a month of soft spring days.

The child pants with the effort.

Arriving at destination, the rider stops,

Dismounts, runs towards the house,

Pounds upon the door and waits impatiently

The door opens and the rider

Beckons excitedly, anxious to show off

His new little pink tassels.
