30 day poetry challenge: day 16

--

Solitude

Silence envelops you like an old duvet,
Warm and snug, comforting,
Your soul companions are your thumping heart
And smooth, calm breathing.

Your eyelids are shut,
Your lips just slightly open,
Your muscles are loose
And mind at peace.

But suddenly, your eyes open,
Your muscles tense and
Your heart starts to race.

You break out in sweats
And you start to scream
As a spider crawls up your bare leg.
