Madness

Figures lurking in the dark, cackling,
Insects crawling up your legs,
Lights flashing behind your eyes,
Sweat pouring from your pores.

Screams thundering in your ears,
Or else climbing up your throat
And tearing themselves out of your mouth
Like a vicious beast.

These are all signs of mental ills,
The kind that land people in a room with white walls.
These kind of ills ruin lives.

But wilful ignorance and wallowing in deceit,
Living in hate and bigotry,
That, my friend, is the real madness.
