30 day poetry challenge, day 29

Humour

Be it a quick chuckle
Or a belly-shaking raucous,
A throaty cackle or grunt,
Humor is everywhere.

Humor makes our lives worth living,
Makes our hearts light,
Our eyes dry, our loves seed,
And our friendships grow.

However, it can also wound
The soul like a sword the skin,
And leave deep scars.

So remember:
A tongue had no bones,
But it’s strong enough to break a heart
